UCLA receives verbal commitment from prized recruit Kevon Looney
Kevon Looney, who was strongly recruited by Duke, Florida, Michigan State and Wisconsin, told the Milwaukee Journal that he was making a verbal commitment to UCLA.
Looney is a 6-foot-9, 220-pound power forward. He is ranked the No. 10 player in the Class of 2014 by Sporting News.
Michael DeCourcy, Sporting News’ recruiting expert, told the Journal that, “There is not a much more useful power forward in the country than Looney who can move out and hit jump shots, move his feet defensively on the perimeter and near the rim and block shots.” Looney will also give UCLA some size after 6-10 twins David and Travis Wear graduate.
UCLA Coach Steve Alford can’t comment until Looney officially signs a letter-of-intent.
