USC football: Kevin Greene moves to tight end
USC senior Kevin Greene has switched from the defensive line to tight end to augment a talented but thin position group.
Juniors Xavier Grimble and Randall Telfer and sophomore Jalen Cope-Fitzpatrick are the only scholarship tight ends on the roster.
Grimble, 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds, caught 29 passes last season, five for touchdowns.
Telfer, 6-4, 250, caught 12 passes, four for touchdowns.
The 6-4, 255-pound Cope-Fitzpatrick caught two passes for 12 yards.
Greene, 6-4 and 255 pounds, played in 11 games on defense and special teams last season and made five tackles, including two sacks. He moved to tight end on Sunday, and coaches will determine whether the move is permanent.
USC is set to open its season Aug. 29 at Hawaii.
