Dodgers will promote Nick Tepesch to start on Friday
The Dodgers will promote triple-A right-hander Nick Tepesch to start Friday against the Pirates, the team announced Thursday.
Tepesch, the 27-year-old who has made 39 big-league starts, joined the Dodgers in June, after he exercised an opt-out clause with the Texas Rangers.
With triple-A Oklahoma City, he has gone 3-0 with a 2.00 earned-run average. His most recent start, last Friday, was his best all season: eight innings, three hits, one run and eight strikeouts.
The move was first reported by Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal.
Tepesch is not currently on the 40-man roster, so the Dodgers will have to clear a roster spot for him.
All 39 of Tepesch’s starts came in 2013 and 2014 with the Rangers, when he compiled a 4.56 earned-run average. He also made three relief appearances.
