Cody Kessler throws a touchdown pass in his last game with USC
Reporting From SAN DIEGO — USC quarterback Cody Kessler ended his career by passing for a touchdown and having one intercepted in the Trojans’ 23-21 defeat by Wisconsin in the Holiday Bowl on Wednesday night at Qualcomm Stadium.
Kessler completed 18 of 32 passes for 221 yards.
Kessler passed for 29 touchdowns, with seven interceptions, this season.
The Bakersfield native, a three-year starter, concluded his career with 10,339 yards passing, 88 touchdowns and 19 interceptions.
Kessler helped lead the Trojans to a Las Vegas Bowl victory over Fresno State in 2013 and a Holiday Bowl victory over Nebraska last season.
Su’a Cravens wraps up time with Trojans
USC linebacker Su’a Cravens played his final game for the Trojans.
Cravens, a junior, announced before bowl practice began that he would forgo his final season of eligibility and make himself available for the NFL draft.
Cravens made eight tackles against the Badgers.
Cravens intercepted a pass in his first game for USC in 2013 and went on to earn freshman All-American recognition.
He was switched to linebacker as a sophomore and was selected All-Pac-12 Conference this season.
Cravens finished the season with 86 tackles, 15 for loss. He intercepted two passes.
Cravens finished his career with 128 tackles, 181/2 for loss. He intercepted nine passes and returned one for a touchdown.
Although he is leaving the Trojans, he reiterated this week that he would always value his time at USC.
“I got it tatted all over my body,” he said. “No matter what happens after this, no matter how far along I play in my career, I’ll always be a Trojan.”
Adoree’ Jackson is ready for track season
Adoree’ Jackson starred in last year’s Holiday Bowl, scoring on a kickoff return and a spectacular catch-and-run pass play.
On Wednesday, Jackson caught three passes for 32 yards, including a key fourth-down catch-and-run play that set up USC’s first touchdown.
USC got a scare near the end of the first half when Jackson broke up a pass in the end zone. Jackson laid on the turf and was attended to by trainers, but he got up on his own and played the rest of the game.
Jackson is scheduled to skip spring practice so that he can concentrate on the long jump. Jackson is the defending Pac-12 champion and is aiming to qualify for the U.S. Olympic trials.
Justin Davis is in a rush
USC tailback Justin Davis rushed for 27 yards and two touchdowns in 12 carries.
The junior finished the season with 902 yards and seven rushing touchdowns.
Freshman tailback Ronald Jones II rushed for 47 yards in eight carries.
He finished the season with 987 yards and eight touchdowns.
Quick hit
Cornerback Kevon Seymour, who suffered an ankle sprain last week during practice, did not play. Seymour, a senior, finished his career with 126 tackles and three interceptions.
