Former USC tight end Randall Telfer called a ‘late draftable kid’
Former USC tight end Randall Telfer has a chance to improve his draft status at the NFL Scouting Combine, which started Wednesday in Indianapolis.
Telfer, 6-foot-4 and 260 pounds, caught 21 passes last season, two for touchdowns.
“He’s probably a late draftable kid,” NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock said this week.
Mayock said this was “not a good tight ends class,” but listed Minnesota’s Maxx Williams, Miami’s Clive Walford, Florida State’s Nick O’Leary, Rutgers’ Tyler Kroft and Notre Dame’s Ben Koyack as the top prospects.
Telfer returned to USC for a fifth season in 2014 after he struggled through knee injuries.
In 2011, he caught 26 passes, the most in USC history by a freshman tight end.
