USC tailback Justin Davis is determined to put fumbles behind him
Justin Davis said he would not fumble the opportunity.
After rushing for 97 yards in 11 carries in last week’s victory over Colorado, Davis is looking forward to playing Saturday against Utah and he said he was determined to put behind the fumbling that has marred his last two games.
Davis fumbled after catching a pass against Arizona, and after an impressive gain against Colorado.
The sophomore, who came back from season-ending 2013 ankle surgery, said his focus now is on taking care of the ball.
“Coming off the injury, I just felt like I had to do something spectacular to get back to where I left off,” he said. “It’s just a mental thing, knowing you don’t have to do too much all the time.
“It’s ball-security first.”
Davis has rushed for 361 yards and two touchdowns as the back-up to Javorius Allen, who has rushed for 909 yards and eight touchdowns.
