Cuter by the dozen
IT started with Lanvin -- fat, lace-covered pearls tied at the neck with a thick velvet ribbon. And then everyone started piling jewelry on -- Chanel, Louis Vuitton, you name it. Three necklaces? Sure. Four is even better.
But with $1,000 price tags for a single piece, costume can end up costing as much as the real stuff.
Now, L.A. jewelry designer Dominique Cohen has the answer. Cohen has taken the delicate touch she is known for in her own high-priced collection and spun in a bit of baroque to create a pretty, wearable line for Target. The pieces have heft without looking like hardware and, with prices at $14.99 to $59.99, you can layer all you want.
The line, which debuts today, is the first jewelry collection in Target’s string of designer collaborations. It has thoughtful vintage details, such as cameo pendants, along with more edgy black metal bows, and even a strand of pearls covered with black lace.
There are lots of long chains, one scattered with seed pearls, and copper rings and oval wood bangles emblazoned with the phrase “beau coeur.” The warm color palette of bronze, black and burnished metal makes it easy to mix and match.
