Suspect arrested after man runs from police and enters H.B. condo

A Garden Grove man arrested Thursday is suspected of running from police and illegally entering a Huntington Beach condominium, authorities said.

Huntington Beach officers responded at 10:16 a.m. to calls about a suspicious occupied van in front of the AutoZone store at 6800 Warner Ave., said police spokeswoman Jennifer Marlatt.

The man inside the van had been “staring at the store for about 30 minutes and appeared to be casing,” Marlatt said.

An officer drove up to the man, who got out of the van and fled on foot across Warner Avenue into a condo complex off Limelight Circle.

Officers found a gate to one of the units appeared to have been forced open.

Marlatt said the man entered the condo through an unlocked rear sliding door.

The resident of the unit arrived home and gave his keys to police, Marlatt said.

Officers stood at the front door and told the man inside that a police dog was on the way.

The man then gave up, Marlatt said.

Kevin Klossner, 22, was arrested on suspicion of burglary, resisting/delaying/obstructing an officer and for a felony violation-of-parole warrant and two misdemeanor narcotics warrants. Marlatt did not elaborate about the warrants.

A used syringe that police believe belonged to Klossner was found in the condo, Marlatt said.
