Deal: The Kinney, a new hotel in Venice, offers free suite upgrades
A new boutique hotel near Venice Beach is hoping you’ll want to come out and play. To lure visitors, the Kinney, 737 Washington Blvd. in Venice, offers a free room upgrade to a suite.
The deal: The Kinney, once the Marina del Rey Hotel, sits about a mile from the beach and from the marina on the Venice-Marina del Rey border.
A news release describes the 68-room hotel as “family friendly” and “millennial-focused.” Either way, you can reserve a room and receive an upgrade to a Boardwalk Crash Pad suite for free.
The suite features a bedroom with a king-size bed and a living room with a pull-out sofa. Other amenities include a mini-fridge, free Wi-Fi and on-site laundry facilities.
For the hip factor, the hotel has a second-story open-air area called the Quad, which is equipped with ping-pong tables, fire pits, chaise longues and a heated pool and spa. And you also can spin some vinyl on record players in the lobby.
When: The offer is based on availability and good through the end of the year.
Details: When you book what’s called a Better-Than-Basic King room for $229 a night, you’ll be upgraded to the roomier suite. You save about $20 a night, which could add up depending on how long you stay. This is an online-only deal.
