Plug-and-play itinerary builder Inspirock.com lets friends offer tips
The best vacation itineraries combine word-of-mouth suggestions and good research.
Name: Inspirock.com
What it does: It’s a quick, customizable, plug-and-play itinerary builder for trips within the United States and Europe. Take Inspirock’s suggestions, then fill in the gaps with tips from friends and ideas of your own. Assign a co-traveler or planner and share it on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest or email.
What’s hot: Start your trip planning here to save you lots of time. Just plug in your travel dates, describe your travel pace and click “See the Plan” plus “Edit Itinerary” to watch your adventure unfold. Use the Calendar tool to drag and drop activities into a timeline that suits you. The map tool shows a possible driving route. I loved the ability to ask friends questions about the trip and have their feedback added to the itinerary. This site has a lot of growth potential; I hope it adds more activities such as music, sports, theater and more.
What’s not: Although it was nice to have the itinerary blocked out by time slots — and easily adjusted to personal taste — it didn’t leave open any spots for meals. I also couldn’t find ideas or tips for local restaurants. Foodies will have to add their restaurants one at a time.
