Las Vegas: High Roller Ferris wheel changes the city skyline again

The ever-evolving Las Vegas skyline will witness another change on Wednesday with the completion of the outer shell of what will become the world’s largest Ferris wheel.

The final section of the metal rim was to be put into place atop the High Roller, an attraction being built as part of the Linq entertainment complex, between the Quad and Flamingo resorts. The giant wheel, the project’s focal point, rises behind the two hotels.

Now that the sphere is complete, the next major construction task will be the addition of 28 glass-enclosed cabins. Each cabin can hold 40 passengers.

At a height of 550 feet, the High Roller will be taller than the London Eye and the Singapore Flyer. It is expected to open during the first half of 2014.
