Palazzo: How it rates
How it rates: * * *
New and noteworthy: The $1.9-billion hotel, spa, casino and shopping mall is the first new resort on the Strip in three years.
The stay: You decide: It’s either calm and cozy inside the luxurious suite or insane and wonderfully sinful outside in the casino, shops and restaurants.
The scene: For the grand opening weekend, the place was stuffed with journalists and VIPs, though locals and tourists filled the casino.
Deal maker: Every room is a tricked-out suite, and in a 50-story tower, most have views.
Deal breaker: Until all of the amenities -- spa, restaurants, shops, pool and more -- are done, the luxury room rates compare badly with other local luxe resorts.
Stats: 3325 Las Vegas Blvd. S.; (866) 263-3001, www.palazzolasvegas.com.
Rooms: Introductory rates from $199 to $499.
Rating is based on the room, service, ambience and overall experience with price taken into account in relation to quality.
