It’s official: Park City Mountain Resort and Canyons Resort are now one big Utah ski resort -- at least in name and branding.

Vail Resorts Inc. announced Wednesday that the name Park City will stand for what is set to become America’s biggest ski resort. The branding also means a new squiggle of a logo and a unified website.

The base area at Canyons will be called Canyons Village at Park City, providing a gateway to the ski resort’s 300 trails, according to a statement.

Vail Resorts rolled out the plan last winter after it bought Park City Mountain resort for $182.5 million, the Associated Press reports. It’s expected to be ready for the upcoming 2015-16 winter season.

The combined resort will have a skiable area of 7,300 acres. That outpaces Big Sky Resort in Montana with more than 5,800 acres and Vail in Colorado with 5,289 acres.

The $50-million improvement plan calls for an eight-passenger high-speed gondola called Quicksilver that will link the two and run between the Silverlode Lift at Park City and the Flatiron Lift at Canyons.

The resort also plans to upgrade several lifts to carry more skiers and boarders.

And it will add a new restaurant called Miners Camp at the base of the Silverlode Lift that can accommodate 500 people.
