Heritage Day held near Redding, California

The hand-pressed apple cider, the demonstrations and the old-time fiddle music are all free at this event near Redding, where visitors can learn how candles and rope are made and see how weaving, beading and saw bucking are done.
When, where: Noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 7 at McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park, 65 miles northeast of Redding on California 89.
