Carlsbad: Chill out for Memorial Day with La Costa room sale
La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif., recently finished a $51-million makeover of its 611 guestrooms and suites, then launched a sale on the redone rooms for Memorial Day weekend. The sale, which comes with free breakfast as well as golf and spa credits, is on until Sunday.
The deal: The Memorial Day Experience Package includes daily breakfast for two, a $90 golf credit per person each day, a $45 spa credit per person per day and free parking. There are lots of kid-friendly activities happening during the weekend too, including a family scavenger hunt, s’mores and an autograph session with Sierra McCormick, who plays Olive on the “A.N.T. Farm” TV series. This deal requires a three-night minimum stay.
When: The sale ends Sunday and is good for stays May 25-28.
Tested: This room sale would work for anyone -- families with kids, or couples -- wanting to sit around the pool instead of the campfire during the holiday weekend.
I found a price of $211 a night from May 25-28 for a Plaza Room with two queen beds that would accommodate two adults and two children. On the same dates, I also found a Plaza Room with a king-sized bed for two for $198 a night. (Prices exclude tax and a $24 daily resort fee that includes Internet, fitness center and more.)
The best available rate for rooms on the same dates usually starts at $304 a night plus tax and fees, according to prices quoted on the website.
