Utah: Sundance Film Fest fans get a break at Hyatt Escala Lodge
January is a month made for movie mavens. Oscar ballots are in the mail, the Golden Globes are set for the 15th, and the Sundance Film Festival starts Jan. 23 in Park City, Utah. Those who want in on the Sundance spectacle will have to find their own passes, but the Hyatt Escala Lodge offers a cool room discount good during the run of the festival.
The deal: The Hyatt takes 25% off daily rates for what it calls the Movie Madness special. Use the code “MOVIE” when making a reservation online or by phone.
Dates: The offer is good for rooms during the festival only, from Jan. 23-28.
Tested: I checked availability online and found a room with one king- or two queen-sized beds for the discounted rate of $299 a night (daily rate is usually $399 a night); prices don’t include tax.
The hotel adds a nightly resort fee of $20, which covers Wi-Fi access, local phone calls, valet parking and ski storage. And speaking of skiing: If you want to slip away and go skiing instead of movie-watching, no one will ever know.
