Hawaii: Andaz Maui set for summer opening
The Andaz Maui at Wailea, a LEED-certified hotel, is set to open this summer along Maui‘s Mokapu Beach, a 1.2-mile stretch of white sand.
The resort occupies the 15-acre site that was previously home to the Renaissance Wailea Beach Resort. It closed in 2007.
The hotel will feature 297 rooms and suites, plus seven villas. A series of cascading infinity pools will provide views of the Pacific.
Guests will enter the resort’s spa through the Apothecary Lounge, where an herbalist will create customizable treatments and products.
The property will be home to two restaurants, including Morimoto Maui, where Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto will blend traditional Japanese cooking techniques with local ingredients.
The Andaz Maui at Wailea will be Hawaii’s first LEED-certified resort, which indicates “green” qualities in a building. The property will incorporate features that reduce energy and water consumption and minimize waste.
Because work is continuing on the property, the opening date can’t be set yet, but reservations are being accepted for stays beginning Sept. 15. The hotel’s reservations site lists Garden King rooms starting at $509 a night.
