On Nov. 20, 1947, Princess Elizabeth, 21, and Prince Philip Mountbatten, 26, married at Westminster Abbey in London.
Prince Philip, son of Prince Andrew of Greece and Denmark, received the title Duke of Edinburgh on his wedding day.
The Los Angeles Times reported that they “married in a ceremony of breathtaking beauty” and drove past well-wishers in a glass carriage to shouts of “we want the bride.”
