Instagram adds ‘Feed’ feature to website but no photo uploading
It used to be that you could only access Instagram on your smartphone. Now, about the only thing you can’t do on its website is upload photos.
Instagram this week added a “Feed” feature to its website, giving users a central location for seeing all of their friends’ latest photos.
“We believe that you should be able to access Instagram on a variety of different devices, any of which may be convenient to you at a given moment -- including your desktop computer or tablet,” Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom said in a blog post.

The new Feed feature shows the exact same content that users see when they tap the home button on their phone’s Instagram app. The feature is also very similar to Facebook’s own News Feed, which shows users fresh posts from their friends.
From the Feed, users can like photos, comment on them and click on other users’ names and profile pictures to be taken to their online profile pages. When new photos are uploaded, the feed will also display a banner alerting users that there’s new content for them to see.
At this point, Instagram has built out a full-fledged Web component to its service. The major missing part of its website is the ability for users to upload new photos from their Web browser. Based off of Instagram’s blog announcing the Feed, users shouldn’t hold their breath for a Web photo upload feature.
“We do not offer the ability to upload from the web as Instagram is about producing photos on the go, in the real world, in realtime,” Systrom said.
