McGraw-Hill Inc. reported an 11% rise in profit for the fourth quarter and a 14% increase for 1984 due to stronger results from each of the company’s major subsidiaries. Joseph L. Dionne, president and chief executive, said McGraw-Hill boosted its profit on stronger revenue “even as the company continued to make substantial investments in the future.” Investments included “seven acquisitions in 1984 and the development of computer-based products and services as well as the improvement and expansion of print products.”
