Noted Philadelphia Hotel Will Close
PHILADELPHIA — The financially troubled Bellevue Stratford Hotel, a city landmark favored by Presidents and famous for the first known outbreak of Legionnaire’s Disease, will close Feb. 2, its owner said Wednesday.
Rubin Associates, principal owner of the 565-room hotel, said it hoped to undertake extensive renovations and reopen the building as a combination of offices, retail shops, restaurants and a small, luxury hotel.
Ronald Rubin, a partner in the company, said he did not know when renovations might begin or when the 82-year-old building might reopen.
