‘Bare Bones’ Sawtelle Place Now Complete
Sawtelle Place, an $8-million mixed-use project at 2130 Sawtelle Blvd., has been completed, and the three-story metal-and-glass structure is 50% leased. Yehuda Natanel is the building owner/developer and leasing agent.
The structure won a merit award in the small commercial/industrial category of the annual Design Awards Competition sponsored by the Los Angeles chapter, American Institute of Architects.
The building was designed to be largely glass and metal with a “bare bones” look in which the metal skin is stripped away to reveal the inner structure and functions, according to architect Jay Stiehl, principal of project designer Urmstrom Stiehl Associates.
The ground floor and second level of the 54,000-square-foot commercial building are designed for retail sales tenants while the top floor consists exclusively of professional office space.
