Allied-Signal reported a 20% drop in second-quarter income to $148 million compared to the year-ago period. The Morris Township, N.J., company blamed the decline on reduced profit margins in several business areas, especially aerospace. Its aerospace unit suffered during the quarter from proportionally lower sales of its most profitable products.
