A battle between two of Silicon Valley’s top semiconductor chip makers is heating up, with Intel trying to revoke Advanced Micro Devices’ license to manufacture a popular Intel microprocessor. Just this week, Advanced Micro unveiled a new version of the chip in question--Intel’s 80286--that runs faster than Intel’s own versions. Intel has asked a court-appointed arbitrator to revoke Advanced Micro’s license for the Intel 80286, the chip that forms the heart of IBM’s AT personal computer and dozens of newer computers, the Wall Street Journal reported.
