The president of CommerceBank in Newport Beach and the Encino-based Independence Bank announced that discussions regarding Independence’s proposed acquisition of CommerceBank have been terminated. No specific reasons given for ending the discussions . . . Allegis Corp. said it has completed the previously reported sale of its Hertz auto-rental company for $1.3 billion to an investment group formed by Ford Motor Co. and Hertz senior managers . . . Northwest Airlines, St. Paul, Minn., said it reached agreement with Boeing Airplane Co. to purchase three more 575 jetliners. The price wasn’t disclosed.
