Caterpillar’s profit jumped to $350 million in fiscal 1987 from $76 million a year ago. The Peoria, Ill., company credited higher sales volume, improved price realization and lower non-recurring charges. Revenue rose 11.7% to $8.18 billion. The company said improved price realization was largely the result of a weaker U.S. dollar.
