A federal judge has ruled that Trans World Airlines did not bargain in bad faith to precipitate and prolong a 72-day walkout by flight attendants in March, 1986, a decision that could save the airline $300 million. The ruling went against the Independent Federation of Flight Attendants, which represents about 5,000 TWA flight attendants who were seeking reinstatement, with back pay, to the jobs they lost in the strike. Union President Vicki Frankovich said she was disappointed by the judge’s ruling, but was “confident we will win on appeal.”
