Bloomingdale’s said it will lay off 245 employees, or nearly 2% of its work force, as part of the cuts ordered by Campeau Corp. at Federated Department Store Inc. divisions. Bloomingdale’s, with 14,000 employees, was the last Federated division to announce layoffs. Eighty-six employees were let go from Bloomingdale’s organization offices, while 159 were cut from its stores and catalogue operation. No sales positions were eliminated. Campeau ordered cuts at all Federated divisions after it took control of the retailer last month.
