Carnival Cruise Lines Inc.’s earnings grew 23% to $52 million for the second quarter, compared to the year-ago quarter. Operating revenue totaled $158.7 million, about the same as the 1987 quarter. The Miami company, which claims to be the world’s largest cruise line based on number of passengers carried, said the results reflect the firm’s ability to increase per-passenger yield despite a modest price increase.
