Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co.: The Montvale, N.J.-based supermarket operator reported second-quarter profit of $35.6 million, up 21% from a year ago. Sales were up 11% to $2.6 billion. The company credited the increase in earnings in part to its newly acquired interest in Farmer Jack food markets in Michigan.
