USAir Group: The air carrier holding company reported a net loss of $63 million for 1989, contrasted with profit of $165 million in 1988. Revenue totaled $6.3 billion, up 11%. For the fourth quarter, the firm posted a net loss of $102 million, contrasted with a profit of $23 million for the 1988 period. The Arlington, Va., firm attributed the results to higher fuel costs, to recurring and one-time cost increases relating to its merger with Pacific Southwest Airlines and Piedmont Airlines and to Hurricane Hugo and the Bay Area Quake, which caused major disruptions of service.
