Union Sues Nordstrom: The United Food and Commercial Workers Union filed a class action lawsuit against Nordstrom Inc., charging the upscale department store chain with “widespread violations” of labor laws. The suit, filed in Washington state Superior Court in Seattle, seeks an unspecified amount of back pay for about 50,000 current and former Nordstrom employees who allegedly were not paid for all the hours that they worked. The suit follows a ruling two weeks ago by the Washington Department of Labor and Industries that Nordstrom violated the state’s minimum-wage act and should pay back wages to employees.
