NATION : Nixon Home Brings $2.4 Million
SADDLE RIVER, N.J. — Former President Richard M. Nixon sold his seven-bedroom home for $2.4 million to a Japanese bussinessman last week, a realty agent said today.
Nixon and his wife, Pat, are moving to a three-bedroom condominium in Park Ridge, about a mile from their home in northern New Jersey. They decided the condo would be easier and less expensive to maintain, a spokesman said last spring.
The home was placed on the market with a $3.25-million price tag and was reduced to $2.9 million during the summer.
Real estate broker Mary Lenk confirmed the sale but would not identify the buyer.
The Nixons bought the house in 1981 for $1.25 million and made $300,000 in improvements, family spokesman John Taylor said in April.
