Amgen Plans to Build Distribution Center
Amgen Inc. plans to build a distribution center in Louisville, Ky., to bolster its presence in eastern U.S. markets, the Greater Louisville Economic Development Partnership announced.
The facility, initially to be 80,000 square feet but expandable to 160,000 square feet, will cost between $12 million and $15 million and will employ up to 30 people when it opens in the summer of 1992. The company, based in Thousand Oaks, is a major biotechnology concern that has two drugs approved for sale in this country.
Amgen said it chose Louisville because of its quality of life, its proximity to the center of Amgen’s customer base and because it’s home to United Parcel Service’s national air hub.
