Texas Instruments to Cut Jobs: TI announced 280 job cuts in its defense electronics and information technology groups, bringing to 1,325 the total number of employees laid off this year throughout the company. TI spokeswoman Terri West said of the total affected, 260 are in the defense electronics group, which has been hurt by federal budget cuts. The other 20 will come from the information technology group. She said 264 of the 280 employees to be cut are in the Dallas area. The rest are in other locations, including Ridgcrest, Calif.
