Hinshaw’s to Close: Hinshaw’s Department Store in Arcadia will be going out of business and will hold a liquidation sale next Friday. The company said its financial problems stem from the January closing of its Whittier store because of declining sales there. The company began to face cash shortages after it was unable to quickly transfer billing records of its charge card customers from the Whittier outlet to the Arcadia store because of computer programming problems, a Hinshaw’s spokeswoman said. As a result, Hinshaw’s was unable to bill customers in March or April, the spokeswoman said. Hinshaw’s, which is privately held, will be open today and Saturday. It will close Sunday and will not be reopened until the liquidation sale next Friday.
