Metalclad Has 2nd-Quarter Loss
ANAHEIM — Metalclad Corp. reported a loss of $26,000, or 1 cent a share, for the second quarter. That compared to a loss of $401,000, or 8 cents a share, for the same period a year earlier.
The company, based here, said revenue fell 39% during the quarter to $3.6 million from $5.8 million.
Metalclad officials said the company’s commercial insulation contracting operations have slowed during the recession. Profit also has fallen as the company develops facilities in Mexico to treat toxic and hazardous wastes. Construction is to begin on the first of the facilities in San Luis Potosi by year’s end.
For the first half, the company reported a $68,000 loss, compared to a $440,000 loss a year earlier. Revenue dropped 33% to $8.2 million from $12.1 million.
