Delta Pilots Pull Out of Talks: The union representing pilots at Delta Air Lines Inc. said it is pulling out of concession talks with management after the airline’s announcement that it plans to lay off up to 600 pilots. Delta says it will lay off the pilots starting in June and reduce its fleet by 28 aircraft. Delta pilots have been negotiating with the airline over its request that they take a 5% pay cut and other concessions to help restore the carrier’s profitability. Delta earlier this month refused an ALPA plan to take $65 million in pay and benefits concessions, saying it was “cosmetic” and did not address all issues.
