Suit Against Monex Amended: Attorneys for a group of investors who filed a class-action lawsuit accusing Monex International Ltd. of fraud amended the complaint last week to add two plaintiffs--one a new party and the other a widow of an original plaintiff.
The lawsuit, filed in Orange County Superior Court 18 months ago, alleges that salespeople and executives at the Newport Beach company and its affiliates defrauded thousands of investors by misrepresenting profits that could be earned on precious-metals holdings.
Lawyers for Monex, which trades in gold and silver, deny the allegations, saying that the company is not guilty of wrongdoing. No hearing date on the suit has been set, the company said.
