MARKETING : Trade Group Chapter Allows Callers to Push Buttons and Receive Faxes
The Orange County chapter of the American Marketing Assn. is proving itself worthy of the name. The chapter recently set up a telephone line to send faxes to callers who push the appropriate phone keys.
The system eliminates the need for office space or a receptionist, creator Steve Fox said. The association is the first customer for Fox’s Irvine-based company, On Demand America.
A former computer hardware salesman, Fox said he wanted to find a different line of work. He set up a bank of personal computers to route information automatically to fax machines. Fox is currently adding two customers, he said.
The marketing association’s number--(800) 329-7262--sends information about meetings, membership and a job hot line.
