REAL ESTATE
Fox & Carskadon Up For Sale: Fox & Carskadon, Northern California’s largest residential real estate firm, is up for sale following a long, drawn-out dispute among its two partners. Majority partner Frank Luppi has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and plans to sell his 75% interest in the company, Fox & Carskadon Chairman Richard Purvis said. The decision comes after a failure to settle a 17-month-old lawsuit filed against Luppi by former Fox & Carskadon President Emmet J. Cashin III. Cashin sued after he was removed as the managing partner and later fired in July, 1993, during a top-level power struggle, Purvis said. Already, at least two investor groups are preparing bids for the corporation. They include Jon Douglas Co., Southern California’s largest residential real estate concern, and a second put together by Purvis.
