Tandy Closes Stores, Sells Non-Retail Businesses: The Ft. Worth-based company said it sold its Computer City and Incredible Universe credit card portfolios to SPS Transaction Services Inc. and most of its service contracts to American Bankers Insurance Co. Proceeds from the sale of the credit card portfolios will total about $700 million. Tandy Corp. also said it is closing 213 Video Concepts and McDuff mall stores and 20 McDuff Supercenters. Analysts estimated the stores were losing between $15 million and $20 million a year.
