Roofing Firm Owners Accused of Fraud
SANTA ANA — The owners of a Corona roofing firm that operates in Orange and Riverside counties have been accused of underreporting their payroll to save $1 million in workers’ compensation premiums.
Stonegate Roofing Co. owners John Lee Wilson, 45, of Placentia, Eugene Franklin Wilson, 46, of Salt Lake City, and Rhonda Lee Schneider, 39, of Corona were charged this week with felony counts of workers’ compensation fraud, conspiracy to commit insurance fraud and grand theft. The charges stemmed from an investigation by the state Insurance Department’s fraud division, which found that the company had more than 100 employees.
The defendants, who were released on their own recognizance, are scheduled to be arraigned March 8.
