ADM, Others to Settle Antitrust Suit: U.S. District Judge Milton Shadur in Chicago approved a $45-million-plus settlement of a class-action lawsuit accusing Archer-Daniels-Midland Co. and competitors of fixing prices of the animal feed supplement lysine. The action came despite an invocation by an ADM executive against self-incrimination; corn-processing chief Terrence Wilson refused to testify about the company’s pricing practices. ADM declined to comment on the settlement. ADM will pay $25 million to settle complaints that it manipulated the market for lysine, an amino acid that speeds muscle growth in animals. Two other companies, U.S. units of Japanese firms, will pay $10.2 million each, bringing the total to more than $45 million.
