Guess’ Retail President Will Resign
Guess Inc. said Andrea Weiss, president of retail, will resign to join another unspecified company on the East Coast, where she now lives. Weiss has worked at Los Angeles-based Guess for 2 1/2 years. She is the second Guess executive to quit this year, as the maker of jeans and casual clothing struggles with lagging earnings because of weak sales and lower-than-expected license revenue from its Asian operations. The company also had deeper markdowns and higher product returns than expected during the fourth quarter. Company officials weren’t immediately available to comment on Weiss’ departure. In January, Ken Duane, president of worldwide sales, resigned and received $350,000 in a contract settlement.
