What Are You Drinking?
“The greatest bottle of wine I’ve ever had was a 1959 Bonnes Mares, but who made it, I don’t know. That’s what got me going in wine, though. It was lush and lovely. It had great body and structure and a marvelous finish. It led me to buy some more wines from a friend who was closing out part of his store. I probably bought 20 cases from him, mostly Bordeaux. I drank 1961s in the main and drank them way too young. What a crime.”
