SEC Puts Financial ‘Tool Kit’ on the Web
The Securities and Exchange Commission has put together an online version of its “Financial Facts Tool Kit,” part of a joint government-business campaign for investor education. The kit is available on the SEC’s Web site at https://www.sec.gov, the agency said. It includes an interactive version of the “ballpark estimate,” a worksheet for calculating how much money people should save each year for retirement. Other features include a suggested form for taking notes when talking to a financial professional such as a stockbroker, a primer titled “Get the Facts on Saving and Investing,” tips on planning for retirement, advice on investing wisely from securities regulators, and guides to understanding mutual funds, market risks, corporate and municipal bonds. People without Internet access can order free copies of the “Financial Facts Tool Kit” by calling (800) 732-0330.
