ORANGE COUNTY EARNINGS

Furon Co.: The Laguna Niguel manufacturer of engineered polymer components for the industrial and health care markets reported net income of $3.8 million, or 21 cents a share, for the third fiscal quarter ended Oct. 31, down 31% from the $5.5 million, or 29 cents a share, recorded for the same period last year. Sales declined 2% to $120.7 million from $123.2 million. The company said weak sales in September, particularly in the electronics, industrial equipment and process industries, resulted in lower than expected earnings in the industrial segment.
