VENTURA COUNTY BUSINESS : VENTURA COUNTY DIGEST / BARBARA MURPHY : Axius Recalls Fans After Overheating Reported
Axius, a Moorpark-based marketer of automotive window sun-protection products and accessories, is voluntarily recalling its 6-inch deluxe fans because they might overheat.
The fan is intended for use inside cars.
Company officials said nearly 450,000 of the fans have been sold since 1997, and there have been 12 reports of overheating. No consumer injuries have been reported.
Consumers may call the company’s information line for instructions on how to return the fans and receive a coupon for a new fan or other Axius products. The toll-free number, (888) 511-4158, can be accessed 24 hours a day.
The company has contacted its retailers and distributors to inform them of the recall, to ask their assistance in removing the fans from retail outlets and warehouses, and to arrange for returns.
Axius said it also has informed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Consumer Product Safety Commission of the matter.
