Detectives are investigating two drive-by shootings that left a man and a woman wounded, an LAPD spokesman said Monday.

The shootings occurred within an hour Sunday, Los Angeles Police Officer Jason Lee said. A 34-year-old man was critically wounded at 5:30 p.m. at 3rd Street and Kenmore Avenue when a shot from a passing car struck him in the chest, Lee said.

Two assailants were in a 1980 to 1982 Chevy Nova. The victim, whose name was not released, was in critical condition Monday at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center.

An hour later, a second drive-by shooting wounded Cecilia Salazar, 46. A lone gunman drove up to the 400 block North of Coronado Street and opened fire Lee said.

“Three suspected gang members were in the area at the time and may have been the intended targets,” Lee said.

Salazar suffered bullet wounds to her hip and chest, Lee said. She was taken to County-USC Hospital, where she remained in stable condition.
